Call for symposia proposals ECRO XXVII Cambridge

We are pleased to announce the XXVII Congress of the European Chemoreception Research Organization (ECRO) will be held on The Wellcome Genome Campus in Cambridge UK, between 2-5th September 2017.

The Programme Committee invites proposals for symposia to address scientific topics of broad interest with a focus on emerging research areas or technologies. In particular we welcome symposia addressing the following topics:

·        The interface of the senses, nutrition and metabolism

·        The omics of chemoreception

·        Diseases of the chemical senses

·        Multisensory integration

·        Smell and taste in non-model organisms

·        The neural circuits linking chemoreception and behaviour

Symposia will include a chair(s), and three (3) or four (4) invited speakers. Chairs are encouraged to include a speaker who works outside of the chemical senses and has not previously attended an ECRO Congress. The composition of speakers should be balanced across career stage and gender. Presentations that span multiple, synergistic approaches and/or model systems are strongly encouraged. At least one (1) speaker must be a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow or junior faculty.

The NEW deadline for submission of symposium proposals is 7th April, 2017.

Symposia will follow a standard format. Each speaker will have 15 minutes to present, with 5 minutes for Q&A. All invited speakers must be confirm their participation prior to the submission of the proposal. An abstract will be required from speakers only after confirmation that the proposed symposium has been selected.

Chairs and speakers will be required to register for the Congress and cover their travel expenses. Limited funds may be available from sponsorship to support graduate student, postdoctoral fellow or junior faculty speakers in exceptional cases. Justification for the necessity of this support must be made at the time of symposia submission.
